KAYFLÔ INAUGURATED ITS FIRST STAY-Ô HOUSE-BOAT IN MARTINIQUE

An innovative, autonomous and carbon-free lodge for living on the water.

KAYFLÔ DEVELOPPEMENT organized open days on January 16 and 18, 2025 to present its first STAY-Ô house-boat to the press, institutions, professionals and individuals in Martinique. The media reception was very positive around a project carried out from Martinique and whose demonstration of ecological habitat will be carried out in Martinique, demonstrating the ability to live on the water, to use the KAYFLO slogan, while respecting nature and coastal zones.

Both private and professional visitors were charmed by the design, brightness and interior volumes. “It’s better than at home!” The professionals were particularly sensitive to the design of the panels and the technical compartments which allow easy maintenance over time and guarantee a prolonged operating life.

This house-boat will begin its commercial operation in Martinique as a seasonal rental, with an innovative positioning around eco-tourism, it targets a high-end clientele, both local and international.

An ecologic and design house-boat

From the patented floating habitat concept to the STAY-Ô house-boat prototype

Designed by KAYFLÔ DEVELOPPEMENT engineers and built in the Nantes region, the STAY-Ô floating lodge prototype is an ecological, carbon-free and 100% French innovation. Its launch was the culmination of 8 years of research & development and more than €900,000 of investment. At the origin of this project, the founder of KAYFLÔ DEVELOPPEMENT, Jean-Marc SALPETRIER, notes that “boats have always been designed to sail but not optimized for living, particularly on the maritime coast. »

STAY-Ô was born from this idea and the invention MULTIKATFLO, a hull originally developed for commercial ships and for which KAYFLÔ DEVELOPPEMENT has had the exclusive world patent since 2016. This innovative concept is based on a multihull with a hybrid structure offering the habitability of a monohull and the stability of a catamaran. It combines a monohull at the front with a catamaran at the rear. So the front is both a central shell and a connecting volume.

“I wanted to create a mobile floating house to house my family; STAY-Ô offers a new space to live, on the water and in harmony with nature. KAYFLÔ is today leading the way in real estate and sustainable tourism for our coastal and coastal areas. » declares founder Jean-Marc SALPETRIER.

Thinking about boats and habitats to design ships to live in!

STAY-Ô combines nautical features with hotel comfort, a technical feat that makes it possible to live on the sea. It’s a true floating lodge with a modern design, built by yachting professionals. A category D vessel, it is designed to be moved from one anchorage to another, in calm sea conditions (50 cm waves, 16 knot wind), at a speed of 5 knots. It can be powered by two outboard electric (or internal combustion) motors.

This patented MULTIKATFLO multihull, 12.81m long by 6.87m, has proven stability for the comfort of its guests and its carrying capacity is 30% greater than that of a catamaran of the same size. Its “parallelepiped” volumes offer a useful surface area of 107m²! Indoor relaxation area with panoramic views of the surrounding nature, beautiful outdoor living terrace, long rear beach for swimming… STAY-Ô is modular and easy to arrange with standard furniture. Very accessible technical voids facilitate maintenance. Two rear compartments measuring 3m long by 1.30m high allow all technical equipment to be placed there. Customizable, STAY-Ô is offered in 8 layout versions, from one to four bedrooms and with a wide choice of interior and exterior coverings.

An autonomous, zero-emission and decarbonized habitat

Faced with energy challenges and the climate emergency, STAY-Ô is designed as an ecological boat house. The prototype is made of birch plywood coming directly from Finland and fully treated with greenpoxy, an epoxy partly of plant origin (30%), and with basalt fibers. The insulation is cork sprayed on a water-based, completely natural base. Everything is built without a mold, reducing industrial waste by 20 and the quantity of CO2 emitted on site by 10.

STAY-Ô is a water and energy self-sufficient home. Rainwater is collected and stored in around ten tanks, representing a total volume of 2,000 liters of fresh water, or 5 times more than a charter catamaran of the same size. An optional watermaker (60 liters hours) for periods of drought allows it to adapt to all climates. A wastewater treatment plant treats wastewater which is recycled for domestic use. Thirty-six solar panels coupled with 2 wind turbines and lithium-ion-iron-phosphate batteries provide on-board electricity independently.

Develop floating real estate and reinvent nautical tourism

Added to the real estate pressure on coastal areas are the effects of global warming and rising water levels. The mobile floating habitat designed and manufactured by KAYFLÔ DEVELOPPEMENT is an innovative, ecological and economical solution for living on the coast in perfect harmony with nature.

The STAY-Ô is offered from €850,000 excluding tax for tourism professionals.

A complementary range of habitable motor catamarans, CROSS-Ô, has also been developed, in 3 sizes, 36, 44 and 57 feet, for individuals and professionals wishing to be able to sail while having the comfort of home, thanks to a raised front nacelle.
